Another said that all hermit crabs are reef safe. and lastly another person said red leg can be hit or miss. All 3 happen to work at the same LFS lol idk who to believe.

If you do it frequently then likely not an issue. That's not really the concern, the main concern is the release of hydrogen sulfide from anoxic zones.
